The NEXTGenIO Workshop on applications of NVRAM storage to exascale I/O was held on 25th-26th September 2019 at ECMWF in Reading (UK), and was a great success.
The workshop discussed the key memory and IO challenges that impact application performance and scalability, the usage scenarios for byte-addressable persistent memory and the impact it will have on high-performance computing and data intensive applications. Speakers at the workshop represented the user community, hardware vendors and software tools providers.
Recordings of the presentations and copies of the slides can be found on the workshop webpage on the ECMWF website.
The workshop was followed on 27th September by an also highly successful hackathon, which for the first time gave a sizeable group of users hands-on access to the NEXTGenIO prototype system.
